LeasePlan announced as Global Leasing Partner for World EV Day

LeasePlan, a global car-as-a-service with approximately 1.8 million vehicles under management in 29 countries, who are helping private drivers and fleet managers convert to electric cars with driver-focused products, has been announced as Global Leasing Partner for World EV Day

The event, which takes place on 9 September, is a global movement, driving change together. It’s a day of celebration of emobility and a day to shift the transition to sustainable transport with consumer, business and policy outcomes.

World EV Day is the brainchild of Ade Thomas and his team at Green.TV, who also deliver the hugely successful EV Summit. In 2021, World EV Day saw over 300 million Twitter impressions. It has also become LinkedIn’s fourth most visited channel for those interested in sustainability.

The 2021 World EV day also saw engagement from some of the most important establishments around the globe. These included the White House in the USA, and both 10 Downing Street and the House of Commons in 2021.

With rising fuel prices and fuel shortages, the interest in electric cars is greater than ever before. Driving an electric car not only offers a huge reduction in running costs but will save you money, up to 40 percent, on maintenance

One of the biggest barriers to adopting electric vehicles, though, is the cost of purchasing a new car. Leasing an electric vehicle through LeasePlan is an easy and affordable way of transitioning to emobilty. It involves a monthly subscription with most deals including tax, insurance and servicing to make life even easier.

Neill Emmett, Head of UK Marketing at LeasePlan UK, said: “We are proud to be working together with some of the most influential names in the automotive industry to support millions more drivers in UK in making the switch to a zero emissions vehicle.

“A significant number of people in the UK have already taken the decision to go electric but as the need to protect our planet from climate change intensifies, so does the need to mobilise the next generation of drivers.”

Last year LeasePlan released its Electric Moments campaign that was born out of the ‘lightbulb’ moment when people realise that they could make the switch to an electric vehicle. Founded on in-depth market research and insights, the company unearthed the challenges that fleets, and their drivers, face when looking to switch to electric cars and vans.

His team have developed a go-to resource for drivers covering everything people need to know about switching to electric vehicles. This includes 80+ expert recommendation articles, EV educational video guides and free to access EV assessment tools.

Ade Thomas, World EV Day founder, said: “LeasePlan were a founding partner of World EV Day, so I’m delighted to continue working with them on this globally significant campaign.

“As one of the leading leasing companies, LeasePlan have tremendous reach to both new and existing EV drivers, really helping to drive the sustainability engagement of going over to EV that World EV Day propels.”
