Kia accelerates entry into UK electric van market with new PV5 lineup

Kia has unveiled detailed specifications and pricing for its upcoming PV5 electric van models. The lineup includes the Cargo, Crew, and Chassis Cab variants. This marks a major step in the brand’s entry into the UK’s electric commercial vehicle market. It coincides perfectly with the increase in electric vans across the UK.

The proliferation of clean air zones (CAZs) is accelerating the transition to electric vans across the UK. These zones impose charges on high-emission vehicles, incentivizing businesses to switch to cleaner alternatives. The introduction of the PV5 aligns with this shift, offering businesses a viable electric option that meets CAZ standards.

The PV5 Cargo will start from £27,645 (+VAT) for the ‘Essential’ trim with a standard 51.5kWh battery. It even qualifies for the maximum £5,000 OZEV Plug-in Van Grant. The Cargo model offers two battery choices: a standard range with 181 miles or a long-range option with up to 247 miles.

The PV5 Cargo will come in two trims: ‘Essential’ and ‘Plus’, both with a front-wheel-drive electric motor. The standard 51.5kWh battery outputs 89.4kW, while the long-range 71.2kWh version provides 120kW of power. Both options offer fast 400V charging, capable of 10–80% in under 30 minutes.

Along with the Cargo, Kia will also offer the PV5 Crew and PV5 Chassis Cab models.

The Crew variant features seating for up to 5 passengers and a cargo space that can be expanded for more flexibility. It offers a range of 174 miles with the standard battery. The Chassis Cab, designed for various conversions, is available with either the standard or long-range battery. It has a maximum payload of 995kg and offers a range of up to 217 miles.

Pre-orders for the PV5 Cargo open on May 1, 2025, with deliveries beginning later in the year. Pricing for the Crew and Chassis Cab variants will be announced later. The full range of PV5 options will be available in 2026.
