Kia EV6: Is the 2022 car of the year about to get even better?

  • After its initial 2021 release, the Kia EV6, which won the 2022 Car of the Year award, is set for an imminent facelift, after the company posted teaser photos of a refreshed EV6 on X.
  • The photos give away a slightly redesigned body, consisting primarily of all-new front and rear lights.
  • However, this mid-life update could consist of more than just visual changes.

What to expect from the updated Kia EV6

While Kia hasn’t given away much on the update just yet, other than its photos posted on X, its Hyundai-branded cousin, the IONIQ 5, just received its own facelift in March, which is gradually making its way into global markets. In the Hyundai, battery capacity has been increased from 77kWh, the same capacity as on the current EV6, to 84kWh, for an increased range. The infotainment system has also been updated, with new software, and the inclusion of more physical buttons. A revised steering wheel design is also part of the new package, while there are reduced noise, vibration, and harshness levels thanks in part to extra sound insulation and revised suspension components.

With the EV6 and the IONIQ 5 having much the same underpinnings, you can expect a similar array of features on the facelifted EV6. Kia hasn’t put a date on a full unveiling, but judging by the timing of this teaser on X, we should see the updated model by the end of this year.
