Ken Block and the Audi S1 Hoonitron electrify Las Vegas

US drift artist Ken Block has released his long-awaited Electrikhana video featuring the Audi S1 Hoonitron electric vehicle (EV). This zero emissions car was developed and assembled at Audi Sport in Neckarsulm where the all-electric prototype was styled by Audi Design taking cues from iconic Audi models.

The video, which was shot in Las Vegas, sees Block putting the S1 Hoonitron through its pace. Whether it was a drift along the famous Eiffel Tower, a spectacular jump from the parking deck of a neighbouring hotel, or doughnuts on the legendary strip in front of spectating Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen, Block made a huge splash during the night-time film shoot.

The US star in the Audi S1 e-tron Quattro Hoonitron electrified the gambler’s paradise in Nevada’s desert for several days. Now Ken Block has released the cinematic product.

Oliver Hoffmann, Audi AG Member of the Board for Technical Development, said: “With the S1 Hoonitron we broke entirely new ground at Audi. Developing a fully electric prototype for the unique requirements of our partner Ken Block.

“It was a big and exciting challenge to which the whole team rose with flying colours. It is great to see how ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ is presented in an all-new environment.”

The Audi S1 Hoonitron features two electric motors, all-wheel-drive and power galore. It has a carbon fibre chassis and fully complies with the safety standards of the FIA, motorsport’s governing body.

Audi Sport developed it as a one-of-a-kind car exclusively for Ken Block. Its body shell, for which Audi Design led by Marc Lichte is responsible, immediately evokes memories of the legendary Audi Sport Quattro S1. This made it’s name at the famous Pikes Peak hill-climb race.

Earlier this year, Block put out a video of him putting the Audi RS Q e-tron electric vehicle through its paces in the snow at the GP Ice Race.
