- Kempower and Wennstrom have launched Norway’s first public charging station exclusively for electric trucks in Oslo.
- The site provides up to 400kW per chargepoint and supports future MCS-compatible trucks with scalable Kempower technology.
- Fastcharge aims to open four more truck charging sites across Norway by year’s end, boosting electric infrastructure.
Kempower and Wennstrom bring electric trucks to Norway with the country’s first specialised public charging hub
Norway is joining the future of transport with the country’s first public electric truck charging station. The Kempower facility pushes Norway towards the government’s goal to make all new trucks electric by 2030.
Erik Kanerva, Sales Director of Northern Europe at Kempower, commented:
“This pioneering truck charging project with Fastcharge and Wennstrom is a great step forward for the electrification of transport in Norway. Offering public, on-the-move charging for trucks that is reliable, scalable, and user-friendly is critical for the adoption of electrical trucks. We look forward to building many more truck charging stations together.”
The Oslo site, operated by Fastcharge, will offer up to 400kW of power per chargepoint, with Kempower’s advanced Power Unit providing up to 600kW in total. This system includes Kempower Liquid Cooled Satellites, this tech is in place to make the station megawatt compatible in the future.
This charging station is the first of several planned by Fastcharge. The company aims to open four additional public truck charging sites across Norway by the end of the year.
Harald Grytten, CEO at Fastcharge, explained:
“We aim to be the natural choice for transportation companies by offering a premium service, and at the same time facilitating the transition to electrification of the transportation fleet with reduced total cost of ownership.”
Norway is focused on eliminating road transport emissions. These currently account for 17% of the country’s total emissions. Now, as the nation expands into electric road haulage, it will bring those numbers down quickly. What’s more, operators are constructing future-leaning electric truck charging hubs across Europe, creating an impressive international network. Now, Norway joins the network, and extends the reach and power of electric haulage.
Wennstrom’s Head of Sales, Joakim Opsahl, added:
“I am thrilled to witness this powerful collaboration between Fastcharge, Kempower, and Wennstrom, which is driving the electrification of transportation in Norway. Our commitment and dedication to creating reliable, scalable and user-friendly truck charging stations reflects our shared vision for sustainable transportation. Together, we pave the way toward a greener future.”
