James Taylor appointed as Managing Director for Nissan GB

  • Current Vauxhall Managing Director, James Taylor, is set to take on a new position as Managing Director of Nissan GB, becoming effective from the 1st of May.
  • Taylor brings with him over two decades worth of automotive experience, across brands such as Vauxhall, Stellantis, and General Motors.
  • His appointment comes at a crucial time for Nissan, as it gears up to launch a whole new range of EVs in the near future, including a third-generation Leaf, and the first all-electric iterations of its Micra and Juke marques.

James Taylor to join Nissan GB from May

Taylor takes over from Nissan GB’s current Managing Director, Diana Torres. In his new role, Taylor will report to Mayra González, who is the Divisional Vice President for Marketing and Sales at Nissan Europe.

Taylor’s 20-plus years of automotive experience began at Vauxhall, in several sales and forecasting roles. He then moved to General Motors for a six year stint in two management roles, before moving back to Vauxhall and Stellantis, most recently being the Managing Director of Vauxhall.

Nissan’s push towards electrification has become very apparent this year, with the manufacturer revealing three EVs set to arrive over 2025 and 2026 – specifically, a third iteration of its Nissan Leaf EV, as well as the first fully-electric versions of its Juke and Micra models, which have traditionally been top sellers for the brand. Worldwide, the OEM has an ambitious target of selling 27 specific electrified models by 2030, with 19 of those being fully-electric models. It’s also making significant moves in the UK, with the next-generation Leaf set to be produced at its UK Sunderland factory.

James Taylor commented:

“These are very dynamic times for the automotive industry so now, more than ever, we need to be agile and responsive to business needs and customer demands. Nissan already makes two of the UK’s top-selling cars, has exciting new products on the way and is a brand with real momentum. I look forward to working with the Nissan team, its dealer partners, and other stakeholders to navigate current industry challenges and build the business for sustainable future success.”

Mayra González, Divisional Vice President for Marketing and Sales at Nissan Europe, added:

“We are happy to welcome James to the UK team and congratulate him on this appointment. 2025 is a hugely important year for Nissan’s largest European market and his experience will be invaluable as we strengthen our operations, accelerate our electrification plans, and evolve our network strategy to better serve our customers and support our dealers.”
