Hyundai INSTER: Photos teased of the new budget EV

  • Hyundai has revealed photos of the upcoming Hyundai INSTER, a compact electric SUV set to compete with EVs such as the Dacia Spring and Citroen e-C3.
  • Likely to target a sub-€25k price tag, the Inster would be the cheapest fully-electric car from Hyundai yet.
  • The teaser photos reveal the INSTER’s compact shape, and suggests that the budget EV will stand out on the road, too.

Hyundai INSTER – The manufacturer’s first sub €25k EV?

The INSTER will be fully revealed at the Busan International Mobility Show in late June, but these photos identify some key styling features for the new EV. The rear lights adopt a retro pixelated design, much like that we’ve seen on the IONIQ 5, while a set of circular headlights and daytime running light strips adorn the front. Its boxy shape, similar to that of the Citroen e-C3, means boot and cabin space should remain relatively high for its segment. Even more impressively, Hyundai is targeting a maximum range of 355km (220 miles), which means this small car can tackle the longer electric journeys too, especially in countries where charging infrastructure is becoming ever more seamless, as we recently examined.

The Hyundai INSTER isn’t the only exciting EV set to be unveiled this month, with the Alpine A290 reveal coming later this week.
