- All-electric UK parcel delivery company, HIVED, has placed an order for 11 battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros trucks, as it looks to expand its end-to-end electric delivery network.
- The order includes two eActros 400 models and nine eActros 600 units, with the latter having a range of over 310 miles on single charge, making it a key solution for its middle mile delivery logistics.
- Alongside the new trucks, HIVED is also investing in charging infrastructure to support the fleet – including the installation of megawatt chargers.
HIVED boosts electric truck fleet with new Mercedes-Benz order
Over the next year, HIVED will install megawatt chargers specifically for its fleet of electric HGVs. These are set to be placed at its delivery hubs in West London, the Midlands, and Manchester. With megawatt chargers allowing for charging speeds north of 1MW, the longer-range eActros 600s will be able to charge from 20-80% in around 30 minutes – which HIVED says will ‘level the playing field between diesel and electric HGVs).
HIVED already provides delivery services for a number of retailers. With sustainability at the forefront of many brand’s minds, HIVED’s electric delivery service could become a popular option for more retailers, with these additional electric trucks adding further capacity to the network.
