GIGATONS: GRIDSERVE’s global push for clean energy with advanced technologies at the helm
The founders of GRIDSERVE have launched GIGATONS, a groundbreaking global platform. Announced during Abu Dhabi Finance Week, GIGATONS is overcoming three major barriers: scaling clean infrastructure, mobilising capital, and building trust.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, GIGATONS is supported by multiple partners, including the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, Abu Dhabi Investment Office, and global companies like ABB and Grimshaw. What’s more, former Ecotricity Board Member, Simon Crowfoot, will propel the endeavour as the new CCO.
The platform is raising $100 billion for climate-focused projects. They will focus on using cutting-edge technology like blockchain and AI to power the sustainable revolution.
The first major project will be a partnership with Flow Power in Australia. Together, they will build a net-zero EV charging network. Construction begins in 2025. Another project will focus on sustainable blockchain technology. It will diminish the chain’s reliance on energy-intensive security and validation processes.
GIGATONS is divided into three divisions:
- GIGASERVE will develop clean energy products, starting with EV charging stations.
- GIGATECH will use blockchain to track carbon savings and improve transparency.
- GIGACAPITAL will mobilise investments, creating trust by tokenising every dollar spent.
This initiative builds on GRIDSERVE’s success in the UK. GRIDSERVE’s Electric Highway already powers over 250,000 EVs monthly with net-zero energy. Now, the Harper brothers, founders of GIGATONS, are taking this mission global.
