Gogoro and Cycle & Carriage are rolling out Smartscooters to decarbonise Singapore

Gogoro Inc. has announced an exclusive partnership with Cycle & Carriage (C&C) to launch its innovative Smartscooters in Singapore. The commercial rollout is set for the fourth quarter of 2024, following a successful pilot program.

C&C has also joined forces with Shell Recharge to introduce battery-swapping GoStations at Shell service stations across Singapore. The first GoStation will be operational by August 2024, with more to follow in the next two years.

The pilot program, which began in March 2023 in collaboration with foodpanda, has yielded promising results. Riders have praised the Smartscooters for their speed, quiet operation, and lack of heat and vibrations. Battery swaps take less than a minute, additionally, riders have expressed high satisfaction with the all-inclusive leasing package and aftersales support. On average, each rider covered 2,200 km per month and performed two battery swaps daily, each allowing up to 100 km of travel.

By Q4 2024, C&C will offer three Smartscooter models.

The Gogoro SuperSport, known for its superior power and sporty dynamics; the Gogoro Premium, a stylish everyday commuter; and the Gogoro Viva Mix, a cost-efficient model for high-mileage users.

Gogoro’s battery-swapping network already supports over 600,000 riders in Taiwan. That’s 1.4 million smart batteries circulating through 12,500 GoStations at 2,500 locations. The company has facilitated over 600 million battery swaps to date, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by more than a million tons.

The Smartscooter rollout is an important step towards decarbonising a metropolis like Singapore. Especially with the city being so dependent on two-wheelers for day-to-day transport. The inclusion of battery-swapping technology makes the scooters even easier to use. That’s a level of convenience that is bound to propel further adoption.
