Gilbarco Veeder-Root embarks on forecourt transition with Konect
Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR) has unveiled Konect, an innovative EV recharging ecosystem for the fuel retail industry. Unveiled at the UNITI expo, Konect promises to be a game-changer in integrating EV charging infrastructure into existing fuel retail sites.
Dave Coombe, President, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, commented:
“At Gilbarco Veeder-Root, we are forging a future where charging for EVs isn’t just a necessity, but a profitable venture globally – and we are seeing exciting growth in this area for our business and clients. With the launch of Konect, we are signalling our commitment to helping customers transcend current limitations in the EV charging market and accelerate value realisation for their business.”
At the heart of Konect’s success lies a strategic collaboration with SK Signet Inc., a renowned EV charger developer. This partnership blends GVR’s expertise in fuel retail technology with SK Signet’s cutting-edge EV charging infrastructure.
Konect offers a comprehensive suite of hardware and software solutions. These are designed to streamline the installation process and maximise return on investment for fuel retailers. By minimising upfront costs and operational expenses, Konect opens up new profit avenues.
Konect ensures fast and seamless payment processing. It boasts a high-brightness LCD touchscreen and an OTA-updatable FlexPay 6 ‘Invenco by GVR’ card reader. A 17-foot charging cable also provides flexibility, while an optional safety switch enhances user control and safety.
Centralised cloud-based platform
At its core, the service operates on a centralised cloud-based platform that connects various on-site services. These include point-of-sale payment, loyalty systems, and energy management solutions. This holistic ecosystem enhances operational efficiency and facilitates off-grid charging and localised energy management. This versatility caters to the diverse needs of fuel retailers and fleet operators.
With initial deployment in the USA and Europe, Konect plans further expansion soon.
Konect is addressing the pressing need for accessible and efficient EV charging infrastructure. It’s also creating a compelling business case for fuel retailers to embrace emobility. By harnessing state-of-the-art technology and strategic partnerships, Konect is poised to accelerate the transition.
Om Shankar, Vice President & General Manager, Konect, said:
“EV adoption is at a critical point, with people and businesses needing confidence to make the switch. Widely accessible charging infrastructure is the key to further uptake, and we aspire to remove hurdles and build an incredible business case for fuel retailers to play a major part in the EV transition.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root already offers some of the best software and payment capability in the world, and we’re working with a leading EV charger developer, SK Signet, to provide the most powerful recharging ecosystem our industry has ever seen. Konect is fully integrate-able with our existing full-site solutions, and is poised to help supercharge the transition to electric mobility.”
