Free EV charging offer brings more awareness to World EV Day™

The offer, which runs between 00:01 to 23:59 on Tuesday 9 September 2025, will allow drivers to recharge their EVs at zero-cost, at well over 200 locations operated by RAW Charging. The full list of sites participating in the offer can be viewed here, which includes some of the most popular theme park destinations in the UK, such as Legoland, Chessington, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Warwick Castle, alongside National Trust sites such as Anglesey Abbey, Stourhead, and Cragside.

This year’s World EV Day™ comes at a crucial time for the UK in particular. With EVs now accounting for over a quarter of new car registrations, it’s clear that EVs are now hitting a mainstream audience, and bringing more awareness to the public charging infrastructure already available in the UK will allow more drivers to confidently make the switch. And, with Auto Trader being the headline partner for World EV Day™, the day is set to get significant UK visibility.

RAW Charging is not the only UK CPO to mark the day with a special offer. Sainsbury’s Smart Charge is also offering drivers who charge up at five selected sites on World EV Day™ 1,000 bonus Nectar points, further encouraging the use of the UK’s charging network on the day.

Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-founder & COO of Zapmap, commented:

“When we celebrated World EV Day for the first time back in 2020, there were 20,965 charge points across the UK. We’re now at quadruple that figure, across the whole spectrum of destination, en-route and near-home sites. Not only that, but we also see utilisation rates climbing steadily. This year’s event is a great opportunity for EV drivers to check out a RAW Charging site that may be new to them, as well as for the EV curious to find out about the benefits of driving electric.”
