With nearly all overseas holiday destinations on either the amber or red travel list, there’s never been a better time to rent a camper van for a staycation. PaulCamper are offering Scotland’s only all-electric camper van for rent to explore some of the UK’s most beautiful areas around Orkney.
PaulCamper, Europe’s largest online platform for motorhome and camper van sharing, has added the Nissan Dalbury E camper to its UK portfolio. The Dalbury E was the world’s first all-electric camper van and can sleep four.
On the road, the Nissan camper can cover up to 120 miles (193km) of range. It offers rapid charging and can charge up to 80 miles (129km) in just 30 minutes. There are no worries about range anxiety either, with 30 charge points readily available in Orkney.
The new camper, named Spoot, is ideal for fun days out and a comfortable night’s sleep in an environmentally friendly way. It also offers cooking facilities on hand, a warm shelter and this all-electric camper means there are no costly fill-ups at the petrol pump either.
This is not only a great way of having a zero-emissions adventure but by combining electric vehicle hire and accommodation it reduces holiday costs. Along with many campsites, the Highland Council has temporarily relaxed licensing rules to allow landowners to offer continental-style motorhome stopovers called Airigh, many of which are free.
Paul Hudd, one of Spoots owners, said; “We have always tried to run our business in a sustainable way and using electric vehicles seemed the way to go. We chose PaulCamper as we were aware of their European presence and were super excited to hear that they had launched in the UK.”
