  • Ford and DHL Group are set to continue their collaboration on electrification, with a new agreement for Ford Pro to supply an additional 2,400 fully-electric Ford vans to DHL Group’s German fleet by the end of 2025.
  • Once achieved, DHL Group will operate a total of 4,900 electric Ford vans across its Post & Parcel Germany business unit, and build on the 35,000-plus electric vans from all brands it operates across its German delivery fleet.
  • DHL has a target to electrify 60% of its last-mile delivery vehicles, worldwide, by 2030.

DHL Group expands its electric fleet in Germany

Back in 2022, Ford Pro and DHL signed a mutual letter of intent to accelerate the deployment of electric vans for global logistics, and this upcoming deployment shows a clear sign of this partnership being realised. Two specific models will fill these additional 4,900 units, specifically the Ford E-Transit, and the more compact E-Transit Custom. Most of these additional vehicles have already been delivered, with the final few set to be delivered before the end of the year.

The partnership between Ford Pro, Deutsche Post, and DHL goes beyond just the delivery of electric vans. As part of the agreement, Ford Pro is also providing the group with its E-Telematics software, alongside mobile technicians trained to work on electric vans directly at DHL Group sites for any required maintenance and repair.

Nikola Hagleitner, Board Member for Post & Parcel Germany at DHL Group, commented:

“We are pleased about the further expansion of our proven collaboration with Ford in e-mobility. Ford is an important partner for us in our goal to further electrify the last mile of delivery. We are receiving very positive feedback from our delivery personnel regarding Ford’s electric vehicles. Together, we are making a significant contribution to making parcel and postal delivery in Germany more sustainable.”

Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Pro for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, added:

“We are proud to support Deutsche Post and DHL in electrifying their fleet with Europe’s most successful electric vans. This further expands our strategic partnership, which goes beyond just vehicle delivery. By providing not only our E-Transit models but also our Ford Pro ecosystem of smart software and service offerings, we increase the uptime and productivity of the DHL fleet.”
