Ford begins volume production of three new EVs for Europe

  • Much like other OEMs who are set to significantly expand their electric portfolios in 2025, Ford’s European division is set to do the same – with mass production and deliveries to customers of three new EV models starting this week.
  • The three new models now being delivered to European customers include the Ford Puma Gen-E on the car side, and the E-Tourneo Courier and E‑Transit Courier on the van side.
  • These models bring Ford’s total European EV lineup, taking into consideration both cars and vans, up to nine specific models.

Ford expands its European EV lineup

The Puma Gen-E, which we got a sneak preview of last year, will be a key EV for Ford, with its £29,995 starting price primed to make it the cheapest electric Ford car on sale, slotting below the Explorer, Capri, and Mustang Mach-E.

On the van side, the new additions include the E-Tourneo Courier – Ford’s small electric passenger van, which it calls a ‘multi-activity vehicle’. The other new model is the E-Transit Courier, which is essentially the same model, but designed for commercial cargo operations, with the ability to carry two Euro-sized pallets. This will be a viable alternative to existing options like the Renault Kangoo E-Tech.

All three vehicles are being produced at Ford’s Otosan plant in Romania, whilst the electric drivetrains themselves will be provided from Ford’s Halewood facility, in the UK.

Jon Williams, General Manager, Ford Blue and Model e, Europe, commented:

“Ford has been on an incredible journey, from introducing our first electric vehicle in Europe, the Mustang Mach-E, to now offering a broad range of electric cars and commercial vehicles in just a few years. The Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier and E-Transit Courier further enhance our existing electric vehicle range so there is a choice of vehicles to suit both private and business customers, opening up the benefits of electric mobility to an even wider audience.”

Güven Özyurt, General Manager at Ford Otosan, commented:

“At Ford Otosan, we take pride in contributing to Ford’s success in Europe with new models that further strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio. Built at our state-of-the-art Craiova plant, these new electric models showcase our expertise in delivering innovative, high-quality vehicles that elevate the driving experience for Ford customers.”
