Ford EV drivers in Texas gain cheap charging costs through TXU Energy partnership

Ford and TXU Energy have announced a partnership to reduce home charging costs for Ford EV owners in Texas. The TXU Free EV Miles program allows customers to save on their energy bills while supporting grid stability.

Ford EV drivers will receive credits on their TXU Energy bills for electricity used during designated free charging hours. The hours are from 7 pm to 1 pm the following day. That’s 18 charging hours each day at no cost.

The program is designed with flexibility in mind. Ford customers can schedule their vehicle charging through the FordPass app or the in-vehicle touchscreen. If they need to charge outside of the free hours, they will pay a simple, fixed rate—the same rate as their regular home energy.

This initiative is available to owners of Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and Escape Plug-In Hybrid models. Enrolled customers will also enjoy additional perks: a $100 welcome bonus from Ford and a $250 bonus from TXU Energy for maintaining enrolment for a year.

These charging initiatives serve as an effective tool to encourage EV adoption. Furthermore, the off-peak focussed times are helping bolster grid stability, making EVs more practical for the future.
