The New 500, the first fully electric vehicle (EV) from Fiat, has received the top five-star rating in the Green New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) tests. It is the first car to achieve top marks in all the tests in 2021 and the only one to receive the maximum score of 10/10 in the Energy Efficiency Index.
Green NCAP is an independent initiative which promotes the development of cars which are clean, energy efficient and not harmful to the environment. Their aim is to improve air quality, to maximise the use of resources used for passenger transportation and to reduce global warming.
This is an impressive performance here from the New 500 that is a modern version of the iconic classic that was made from 1957 to 1975. With this new zero-emission car Fiat offer accessible electric mobility in the city, especially as it’s one of the cheapest cars available with prices starting from £20,495.
Designed, engineered and manufactured in Turin, the New 500 is the first model in Fiat history to be fully electric and 100 percent made in Italy from the outset. It features a 42kWh battery that delivers up to 199 miles (320km) of range. With a 85kW fast charger, it only takes five minutes to charge up enough to travel 30 miles (48km). Charging up to 80-percent takes around 35 minutes
It’s great news for the New 500 to score top marks in the Green NCAP test.
