Fastned, the European fast-charging company for electric vehicles (EVs), recently opened its 200th charging station. This milestone was reached in Germany as the brand’s expansion continues across the continent.
Fastned has been accelerating the pace of station openings, bringing the company closer to its goal of operating a Europe-wide network of 1,000 fast-charging stations at prime locations.
Located north of Nuremberg just off the A70 highway, Neudrossenfeld station is the latest addition to Fastned’s fast-expanding European network. This is the company’s 34th station in Germany. It’s equipped with four fast chargers that deliver up to 300kW of charging speed.
The company now has 200 scalable fast-charging stations in operation across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK. Combined, they offer more than 850 chargers to the growing number of drivers of electric vehicles. This is good news for electric car drivers and comes at a time when infrastructure expansion is much needed as electric vehicle sales ramp up.
With a decade of experience in developing and operating fast-charging stations across Europe, Fastned has a proven concept that helps accelerate the transition to electric mobility. With a charging capacity of up to 300kW, drivers can add up to 186 miles (300km) of range in just 15 minutes using wind and solar power.
Fastned’s stations are open to all electric vehicles, regardless of their make and model, and are equipped with canopies to protect drivers from the rain and double as solar panels.

Since its start in 2012, Fastned has been focused on building more and larger fast-charging stations at an ever-increasing speed, as well as increasing the speed of acquisition of new locations. This will allow the company to provide charging capacity for the exponential growth in electric vehicles expected in the coming decades.
Fastned recently announced plans to open at least 65 charging stations with multiple chargers in 2022. This is nearly 50 percent more than the 44 station openings in the previous year. This brings the total number of stations in operation to an expected 253 by the end of the year.
In 2021, the company passed the mark of handling one million annual charging sessions, enabling 105 million electric kilometres and helping avoid 16,410 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
