  • Fastned and TfL’s Places for London will develop 25 ultra-rapid EV charging hubs across London by 2030.
  • These hubs will provide 300 miles of range in 20 minutes, using renewable energy and offering community-friendly amenities.
  • The project supports London’s sustainability goals, addressing rising EV demand as vehicles increase to 1–1.4 million by 2030.

Fastned and TfL partner to expand London’s EV charging network by 2030

Fastned, the UK’s leading ultra-rapid EV charging network, has partnered with Places for London, Transport for London’s (TfL) property company. Together, they will deliver up to 25 ultra-rapid charging hubs across London by 2030.

Tom Hurst, UK Country Director of Fastned, commented:

“Londoners deserve a top-notch EV charging network for all those daily trips and longer journeys. That’s why we’re excited and proud to be bringing more ultra-rapid charging to key locations across the city – all helping to ramp up London’s transition to electric.”

The joint venture starts with five new charging hubs. These will be built at Hanger Lane, Canning Town, Hatton Cross, Tottenham Hale, and Hillingdon Circus. Each hub will feature ultra-rapid chargers providing up to 400kW. This will allow drivers to add 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes using 100% renewable energy. The first five hubs will include over 70 charging bays, with plans for additional facilities like retail spaces, toilets, and seating areas.

Fastned will invest at least £30 million in the project, including £16 million for the initial sites. Revenue from these hubs will also support local community projects.

London is a leader in EV adoption, with over 193,000 plug-in vehicles already on its roads. However, the number is expected to rise to 1–1.4 million by 2030. Up to 4,000 rapid chargers will be needed to meet this demand.

We are delighted to be partnering with industry-leading ultra-rapid charging company Fastned to offer more people and businesses the confidence to make the transition to cleaner vehicles. We are dedicated to providing London with the green infrastructure it needs to ensure the city continues to work towards a sustainable future.”
