EVSE expands charging network with ENGIE acquisition
EVSE, one of Australia’s leading EV charging providers, has made a major move. The company has acquired the Australian and New Zealand EV charging network of global energy group ENGIE.
This deal brings over 200 new charging locations into EVSE’s growing national network. Many of these sites are in high-traffic areas, including Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne — the largest shopping centre in Australia — and Chatswood Chase in Sydney.

These sites use DC fast chargers. They can power up an EV in as little as 30 minutes. That means more convenience for drivers, especially those on longer trips.
The acquisition was made for an undisclosed amount. It marks a major step forward for EVSE, which is owned by smart energy company Intellihub Group. Intellihub already manages more than 2.8 million smart meters across Australia.
EVSE CEO Brendan Wheeler commented:
“In a single transaction, EVSE now has a presence in an additional 200 high-traffic, high-visibility locations, providing greater convenience and support for customers using the Exploren Charging Network – the fastest growing EV charging network in Australia.
The Exploren Charging Network simplifies the way in which customers access EV public charging solutions by providing a singular payment interface for sites across the country. This transaction is a critical piece in the puzzle of delivering seamless charging access at home, at work and on the road.”
The move also boosts EVSE’s Exploren Charging Network. This fast-growing network gives drivers a simple way to access public charging. The move comes as Australia is rapidly expanding its EV network. Public charging has become a key component of the nation’s future, boosting environmental aims and green tourism to provide a sustainable economy.
