Evri takes on 10 fully-electric DAF XB trucks

  • UK delivery firm, Evri, has become one of the first firms to integrate the new all-electric DAF XB truck into its fleet, as it aims to decarbonise its fleet – particularly in the middle mile section of the delivery process.
  • The 10 XBs are joining Evri’s fleet as part of DAF Trucks’ early adopter programme, which comes ahead of the vehicle going into full production in 2025.
  • This select fleet will allow Evri to assess the real-world performance of this truck for middle-mile logistics – an area which, in the past, has had limitations for electrification due to the higher range requirements.

Evri takes on the DAF XB for longer delivery journeys

The Daf XBs in question will be capable of a range of up to 186 miles, coming from a 282kWh battery pack, while fast charging speeds of up to 150kW will also be possible.

The adoption is part of a larger decarbonisation push from Evri. It recently announced a £19 million investment into ‘eco-friendly delivery methods’, which included an increase in the number of ecargo bikes and electric vehicles. Elsewhere in the delivery chain, it also has a target of deploying 3,000 electric cargo bikes in the next decade.

David Landy, Head of Fleet at Evri, commented:

“The Daf XB Electric joining our depot network marks an important milestone in our low-carbon fleet strategy. The launch means we now have a sustainable solution for every stage of the parcel journey, from local deliveries with e-bikes and vans to long-distance trunking. This integration completes our fleet, offering a fully low-carbon solution across all fleet types.”

Pauline Potter, Director of Transformation at Evri, added:

“Evri is proud to be at the forefront of sustainable delivery innovation. Adopting the new DAF XB Electric ahead of full production demonstrates our commitment to reducing our environmental impact while maintaining operational excellence.”
