  • The rebrand is underway, and users can continue using their accounts without changes.

Goodbye EVC, hello Roam.

The new name heralds a new era for the charge point operator. The company is investing £165 million to install 100,000 fast and rapid EV chargers across the UK. Roam also plans to expand into Europe in 2025.

Since its launch in 2020, Roam has partnered with major hotel groups like Hilton and Macdonald Hotels. With its focus on residential charging, it works with organisations like the Professional Golfers Association and Battersea Power Station. The goal is to allow EV drivers to ‘roam’ as freely, or more so, than ICE drivers can.

The new name is representative of a shift in EV culture. We’re moving away from the tech-heavy niche that EVC may convey. Roam insinuates the lifestyle that emobility can offer. Fun, care-free, and easy driving, thanks to the hard work of so many infrastructure specialists. Where EVC says ‘electric vehicles are a tech project’, Roam says ‘EVs are for everyone’’.

Roam’s CEO, James Randall, commented:

“Our mission has always been to provide convenient and hassle-free EV charging at destinations where drivers need them most, and this remains at the heart of everything we do at Roam.

Our newly energised identity reflects our growth, our values, and our dedication to empowering cleaner, greener communities and accelerating access to an electric future. As Roam prepares to expand its reach and bring charging solutions to an even greater number of destinations, our new identity signals our commitment to enable drivers to have an effortless charging experience that fits around their day to day, without the need for detours.”

The rebrand is already underway. The new branding can be seen in Stourbridge, Leicester, and West Sussex. Its other chargers will be rebranded throughout 2025, with no change to services.

The website and app are also updated. Existing users can continue using their accounts without making changes.
