- EVA England has teamed up with EV testing and analytics firm, ClearWatt, in order to inspire more buyer confidence for the used electric car market.
- With the new partnership, members of EVA England will have access to ClearWatt’s technology.
- The partnership hopes to encourage even more drivers to make the switch to electric, through used electric cars in addition to the new market.
ClearWatt’s new app hopes to tackle used EV hesitation
When it comes to the battery health part of ClearWatt’s offer, unlike the battery testing software already used by some used car dealers, such as Generational, which communicates directly with the car’s computer to calculate remaining battery capacity, the ClearWatt app only requires the use of a smartphone, reducing the barriers to analysing EV health. The app gives predictions based on real-time performance data, alongside over 50 supplementary data points. Alongside that, the app also gives insights on the costs of home and public charging, road tax costs, and more.
ClearWatt hopes that its new partnership with EVA England will help potential used EV buyers to be swayed. The used electric car market has already seen impressive growth over the last year, but has still been hindered by mostly baseless concerns around the long term health of EV batteries. Putting those anxieties aside with simple to read figures will help boost EV adoption further both through the new and used market.
Patrick Cresswell, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ClearWatt, commented:
“We’re proud to be joining EVA England as a partner. They are a powerful voice for EV drivers across key stakeholders including central government, and we share the same mission: to make electric vehicle ownership simpler, smarter, and more transparent. Battery health and uncertainty about EV performance remain some of the most important – and misunderstood – factors in used EV buying. By working together, we can give drivers the clarity and confidence they need to make better decisions and accelerate the shift to electric.”
Dr. Vicky Edmonds, CEO of EVA England, added:
“We hear time and again from drivers that battery uncertainty is one of the biggest barriers to buying a used EV. Our partnership with ClearWatt will help tackle that head-on, giving consumers the information they need to make confident, informed decisions. Their transparent, data-led approach is exactly what the market needs, and we’re proud to be working alongside them to help give drivers greater confidence in second-hand EVs.”
