  • Fleet charging firm EO Charging and green energy financiers Horizon Energy Ventures have launched a new partnership, in an effort to jointly deliver fully-funded energy infrastructure projects for the UK’s electric public transportation fleets.
  • Focusing on the ever-growing UK electric bus market, the two firms hope to offer fleets a comprehensive solution for charging these new vehicles, meeting specific operational and financial requirements.
  • A multi-million pound investment between the two firms will accelerate the rollout of EO Charging’s ‘Charging-as-a-Service’ proposition, an end-to-end EV charging infrastructure solution which is paid for by fleet operators on a monthly basis.

EO Charging accelerates its Charging-as-a-Service programme to support electric public transport

Under the new partnership between EO Charging and Horizon Energy Ventures, London’s transition to a zero-emission public transport network will further be enabled, in a city which already operates over 1,400 fully-electric buses. Previously, EO Charging has worked with a number of bus operators in the capital, including Transport for London and Go-Ahead, helping create suitable charging infrastructure.

The partnership kicks off with Transport UK, a transport operator which provides services across England. Under this new strategy, EO Charging will bring more Transport UK depots under the arms of its Charge Assurance platform, ensuring business-critical fleet outcomes.

With Horizon Energy Ventures’ backing, EO Charging is also set to accelerate the rollout of its ‘Charging-as-a-Service’ model, offering an all-in-one charging solution with minimal upfront investment to more public transport fleet operators across the country.

Richard Staveley, CEO of EO Charging, commented:

“We’re delighted to partner with Horizon Energy Ventures to support the transition to zero-emission fleet transportation. This joint investment will accelerate our Charging-as-a-Service model, offering fully funded solutions that make fleet electrification more accessible.

We’re already delivering our Charging-as-a-Service solution, underpinned by our Charge Assurance platform, in London for Transport UK, and we are proud to support their ongoing electrification programme. With over 200 EV fleet projects delivered across the UK and Europe, EO’s end-to-end expertise ensures we provide the infrastructure and service our customers need to scale and achieve key business outcomes. We remain committed to accelerating London’s journey to a greener future.”

David Freeder, Head of Investment at Horizon Energy Ventures, added:

“We’re thrilled to have completed our first investment into UK’s eBus infrastructure, beginning in London, by supporting Transport UK in its journey towards a fully decarbonised fleet. We look forward to working with EO on this project, exploring new investment opportunities in the sector, and funding other fleet operators committed to the roll-out of EV charging and other low-carbon infrastructure—both in the capital and across the UK.”
