- OX Delivers, UK creators of a electric truck purpose built for delivery services in Africa, have announced plans to double the size of its UK workforce by the end of next year.
- These new employees will assist the company in achieving its next stage of development for its electric truck programme.
- The newly created jobs include commercial and engineering-related roles.
OX expands its operations
OX began offering its transport-as-a-service operation as a pilot scheme in Rwanda, back in 2021, with the project also having been partly funded by the Advanced Propulsion Centre – the same group that recently announced £85.8m in funding for other UK ZEV-based businesses. Fast forward to now, the company has gained more than 5,000 customers, whilst 80% of delivery orders placed come from repeat customers. Its purpose built, rugged, electric truck has enabled this, but with demand continuing to grow, the new jobs at its UK headquarters will go to help them achieve ‘continuous’ production of its electric trucks by next year.
OX Delivers say its truck is ten times cheaper than existing off-road alternatives, allowing customers to pay for deliveries with the service for less than $1, while its knock-down design allows it to be transported from the UK and assembled locally, creating yet more job opportunities.
Natalie Dowsett, CCO and Co-Founder of OX Delivers, commented:
“We are creating a world-class team to deliver our mission to revolutionise the way the Global South does business. We have spent the past four years developing and validating our technology, building our infrastructure and proving out the as-a-Service model. Now, we are significantly expanding our UK team to deliver the next exciting phase of development of our all-electric truck and getting prepared for continuous truck build next year,
At OX Delivers, we’re supercharging African trade by improving access to clean, reliable, affordable transport in underserved markets. We are seeking passionate individuals with a desire to shape the future of transportation and develop ground-breaking technology to improve people’s lives.”
