E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing partner for free home charging offer

  • UK-based energy firm, E.ON Next, has partnered up with Select Car Leasing, in an offer primed to charge up EV adoption in the country even further.
  • Through the offer, customers who lease a fully-electric car or plug-in hybrid through Select Car Leasing and switch to the E.ON Next Drive tariff will unlock a number of benefits.
  • The deal includes free home charging credit, and discounted home charger installation.

E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing drive adoption in new deal

Under the new offer, which has gone live today, Select Car Leasing customers who switch to the new tariff will get £134 worth of energy credit. With this tariff offering a 12am-7am rate of 6.7p per kWh, and providing all home charging is carried out during these hours, this credit is enough to provide 8,000 miles worth of driving (that’s around a year of driving, for the average EV driver). That figure will easily be achievable on the most efficient EVs, such as the Tesla Model Y and Mini Electric. Customers will also be able to slash an additional £75 off the cost of a home charger installation.

Combine those offers with the numerous EVs available to lease between the £200-£250 per month bracket, and the lower costs of EVs compared to their ICE counterparts become even more apparent.

This deal between E.ON Next and Select Car Leasing comes at a pivotal point in the UK’s EV transition. While EV sales continue to grow, there is still much work to be done before the ZEV mandate comes into place in 2030 – and schemes such as these will play a key part in driving this adoption.

Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer for E.ON Next, commented:

“We’re working with Select Car Leasing to offer our customers another way to save money on their energy bills. We want to make new energy work for everyone living in the UK as part of our transition to clean power, and to be a playmaker in this space. By making electric driving more affordable we’re giving customers another great reason to make the switch from petrol or diesel.”

Mark Tongue, CEO and Co-Founder at Select Car Leasing, added:

“EVs come with enormous benefits, helping motorists to radically reduce their fuel bills while also making a positive impact on the environment in comparison to petrol or diesel. Yet we know that convincing drivers to make the switch to EVs poses certain challenges, particularly when it comes to things like home charging and choosing the best energy supplier. Our fantastic new partnership with E.ON Next cuts through those complications and allows consumers to choose an EV with confidence while also taking advantage of generous cost savings.”
