DS Automobiles to become a 100 percent electric car brand from 2024

DS Automobiles have announced that from 2024 all of its models will be available exclusively with 100 percent electric powertrains. Electrification is a core part of DS Automobiles’ strategy, with the brand offering drivers a wide range of electrified vehicles since the launch of the E-Tense range in 2019.

plug-in hybrid DS 4 E-Tense, DS 7 Crossback E-Tense and DS 9 E-Tense, means every DS vehicle currently on sale is offered with an electrified power unit.

In 2020, DS Automobiles was the leading multi-energy brand in Europe with the lowest average CO2 emissions (83.1g/km), thanks to its electrified range making up 30 percent of registrations.

Whilst DS Automobiles is looking ahead to 100 percent electric vehicle (EV) production by 2024, the brand continues to be at the cutting edge of innovation, continuing its involvement in Formula E. Technical developments here will assist with the ongoing work on DS Automobiles’ production models.

From 2024, DS Automobiles will also offer an all-electric version of the all-new DS 4. The brand will also unveil a new design, launching the first 100 percent electric programme from Stellantis based on the new STLA Medium platform. This features a high-capacity 104kWh battery that offers an impressive range of more than 400 miles (644km).

Beyond this development of power units, DS Automobiles is working on reducing the carbon footprint of its vehicle production as part of the approach undertaken by Stellantis. More ambitious research is continuing as part of an involvement in energy transition through the development of innovative materials.

It’s good to see another carmaker committing to offering 100 percent electric vehicles. In this case, it’s even better because it will happen by 2024. Few car manufacturers can match the speed in which DS Automobiles are making this happen.

Béatrice Foucher, DS Automobiles CEO, said: “The car industry is experiencing a change whose breadth and speed are unprecedented. As a pioneer, DS Automobiles has anticipated this move, with electrification at the centre of its strategy.

“The next developments in legislation and the EV ecosystem provide opportunities that we want to offer to our customers who already like our electrified range.

“I took the decision to speed up the development to create a new 100 percent electric art of travel, desirable in terms of enjoyment and remarkable in terms of quality and performance; a new art of travel, steadfastly high tech and still just as refined. It is a daring plan that will take shape from 2024.”
