DPD partners with BP Pulse to upgrade EV infrastructure for its growing fleet

DPD has partnered with bp pulse to upgrade and expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the UK. The move comes as DPD’s EV fleet continues to grow rapidly, now reaching nearly 4,000 vehicles. That’s over 35% of its total van fleet, with numbers set to rise further.

To keep pace, DPD needs more charging capacity at its depots. bp pulse will upgrade existing infrastructure and install new rapid (DC) chargers across key locations.

Tim Jones, Director of Marketing, Communications and Sustainability at DPD group UK, commented:

“At DPD we are committed to our net zero journey and the transition of our fleet to all-electric vehicles has been a top priority for a number of years. To reach our targets we plan to continue to invest in EVs and new innovation, but also to partner with the very best in the sector to learn and develop new solutions at a more rapid pace.

We have proved over the last six years that EVs can perform incredibly well within our operation and this partnership will enable our depots and drivers to operate as efficiently as possible going forward.”

Progress is already being made. Fourteen sites are now live, with another 16 planned for early next year. Strategic hubs in cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Middleton are part of the rollout. They plan more sites for 2025, building a robust network to meet future demand.

General Manager of bp pulse UK, Valerio Ferro, said:

“We’re creating a blueprint for large-scale fleet electric charging solutions. This agreement demonstrates bp pulse’s ability to deliver full-service charging solutions that keep businesses moving efficiently and effectively.”

With bp pulse’s help, DPD is not only expanding capacity but also exploring digital solutions to manage its fleet more efficiently. This partnership will massively expand DPD’s electric presence on the road, meeting growing demand while signposting its sustainable future.
