Delhi completes enormous order of JBM electric buses to continue the push for emissions-free streets
On Thursday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed 400 new electric buses to the streets of Delhi. They launched at the Kushak Nallah Depot under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) scheme.

Of the 400 buses, 120 were built by JBM Group, a major Indian electric bus manufacturer. All buses come with smart technology, including an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS).
This move boosts Delhi’s electric fleet to over 2,000 buses
JBM Auto now has more than 650 electric buses operating in the capital. The company plans to serve 20 billion passengers and clock 3 billion electric kilometres within the next 3–4 years.
The new buses—JBM ECOLIFE models—are zero-emission vehicles. Over 10 years, each bus will save around 1,000 tons of CO₂ and 420,000 litres of diesel.
These buses come packed with features. Riders will benefit from real-time location tracking, CCTV cameras, stop request buttons, and onboard fire detection systems. Drivers get ergonomic dashboards to help them stay focused and in control.
To meet growing demand, JBM has set up the world’s largest integrated electric bus plant outside China. It’s based in the Delhi-NCR region and can produce 20,000 electric buses a year.

JBM Auto’s Vice Chairman, Nishant Arya, commented:
“Today’s launch is a reflection of how collaborative innovation between government and industry can redefine urban mobility. At JBM, we are not just manufacturing electric buses—we are building a holistic ecosystem that integrates clean energy, intelligent transport systems, and digital infrastructure.
These DEVI electric buses are a step forward in making public transport more accessible, connected, and sustainable. As Delhi accelerates its transition to green mobility, we remain committed to delivering solutions that are not only Made in India but are truly future-ready and globally benchmarked.”
Delhi is becoming a green leader for India, and the world. It boasts massive EV fleets, including an enormous ride-hailing service. With this rollout, Delhi continues to lead India’s push toward sustainable and smart urban mobility.
