DAF Trucks have commenced dedicated electric vehicle (EV) product training for its network-based DAF Dealer Technicians. This is in anticipation of new deliveries of right-hand-drive LF Electric and CF Electric vehicles for UK customers in the coming weeks.
The training is being delivered at the DAF Academy based at DAF Trucks’ UK head office in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire. It forms part of a comprehensive programme of activities to prepare the DAF Dealer network for the uptake of electric vehicles, with significant investment going into tooling and charging infrastructure, as well as training.
DAF LF Electric and CF Electric models, like those used by Freight Systems Express Wales (FSEW), are now available to order in full UK specification. Following the first demonstrators which were delivered last year, the first customer vehicles will enter service in the coming weeks.
DAF EV product training at the DAF Academy includes in-depth electric vehicle maintenance and diagnosis procedures specific to the DAF Range of electric vehicles.
Training content comes in addition to IMI Level-3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair & Replacement training which all delegates on the DAF EV product training have successfully completed.
Suzanne Moore, DAF training manager, said: “We’re making sure we’re fully prepared to support customers as they adopt DAF electric vehicles into their UK operations. Just like any DAF truck, customers operating DAF electric vehicles can rely on legendary DAF customer support.
“We have electric vehicles entering regular operation. We offer a range of mobile and static charging options and now have trained technicians in place in the network.
“With the UK’s largest network of 135 dealer locations, we can make sure that the necessary aftersales support is right where it needs to be – close to our customers and the routes on which their vehicles will operate.”
