- Citroen has unveiled a number of EVs, both in concept and production stages, at this week’s Paris Motor Show.
- This includes updated all-electric versions of its C4 and C4 X vehicles, alongside a concept of a larger electric SUV from the brand, in the form of the C5 Aircross Concept.
- Citroen also revealed an updated version of its Citroen Ami, alongside a new design concept for the miniature EV.
Citroen pushes on electrification in Paris
The first two EVs shown were updated versions of Citroen’s fully-electric e-C4 and e-C4 X models. These have already been available in electric form for a couple of years, but these updated models bring further range capabilities and restyling. Now, depending on the battery chosen, both the e-C4 and e-C4 X are available with drivable ranges of up to 415 km and 425 km respectively. That compares to around 350 km on the outgoing models, with this range coming courtesy of improved aerodynamics, rather than any changes to the underlying battery pack. Tesla also recently demonstrated how EV range can be improved beyond simply putting in a bigger battery.
At the event, Citroen is also revealing a concept model, with its C5 Aircross Concept, which will exist as an EV, alongside hybrid and pure ICE options. It offers a glimpse into what Citroen’s flagship electric SUV will look like, once the full model is revealed in 2025. It’s based on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, the same as in the Peugeot E-5008 we recently reviewed. However, it remains to be seen whether this C5 Aircross will be made a seven-seater, like the Peugeot.
Last, but not least, Citroen’s two-seater, urban-focused Ami has been updated for 2025, four years after it originally hit the market. Changes are minor, keeping the Ami’s original iconic look, but include updated headlights, a new Citroen logo to bring it up to date with the manufacturer’s latest design language, and updated wheel trims.
