Circle K expands EV charging network with new Gothenburg station

Circle K has opened its first all-electric charging station in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. Located in the Gårda district, this new site includes only EV chargers—no fuel pumps—marking a major milestone in Circle K’s journey toward electric mobility.

The station was built in partnership with Finnish fast-charging specialist Kempower. It features two 600kW Kempower Power Units and ten Kempower Single Satellites. Each satellite can deliver up to 400kW, and Kempower’s smart power distribution ensures that energy is sent where it’s needed most. This allows faster, more efficient charging for drivers on the go.

A key innovation is the improved Autocharge feature. Regular users can plug in and charge automatically, without needing to use an app or payment terminal each time. The system recognizes the vehicle and handles the process in seconds. It works with most EV brands, making charging easier than ever.

The Gothenburg site opened to customers on April 28, 2025, and was officially inaugurated on May 23. It serves drivers commuting into the city, using nearby motorways, or visiting local attractions. While charging, users can shop at a new Circle K convenience store offering food, drinks, and travel essentials.

This opening follows another major EV charging milestone for Circle K earlier in 2025. In Järna, the company launched its largest EV hub in Sweden, with 26 chargers for both cars and trucks. That site also includes solar panels, drive-through charging, and upgraded customer facilities. Together, the Järna and Gothenburg locations highlight Circle K’s serious commitment to electric mobility.

By 2026, Circle K plans to expand to 1,000 ultra-fast charging points in Sweden—four years ahead of its original 2030 goal. With sites like Gothenburg and Järna leading the way, Circle K is quickly becoming a key player in Scandinavia’s EV future.
