Christian Stein appointed as Renault Group CCO, bringing experience from SEAT, Ampere, and Peugeot

  • Christian Stein will take over from Stéphanie Cau as Chief Communications Officer at Renault Group later this month, as the brand continues to pivot to an electrified era.
  • Stein will play a key role in communicating the group’s switching EV strategy, including its goal to have the greenest vehicle mix in the European market by next year.
  • Stein will take over the role from Cau on the 16th of September.

Changes to Renault Group’s leadership team underway

Stein’s appointment should be a significant asset to the group, having held similar roles at prestigious OEMs in the past. Further back in Stein’s career, he joined PSA (now merged with Stellantis) in 1991, holding key roles for around 20 years in departments such as sales and marketing, before joining SEAT for just under a decade, with titles such as Global Marketing Director and Global PR and Communications Director held.

More recently, Stein joined the Renault Group as Director of Brand Communications, in late 2020. As a three year role, he was responsible for communications of the Renault Group brands Alpine, Dacia, Renault, and Mobilize. This coincided with the reveal of electric models such as the Renault Scenic E-Tech, before most recently holding the role as Vice President of Revenue Management & Customer Experience at Renault Group-born EV and software company Ampere, which has now become a fully autonomous company from the group.

His international experience will enable us to support and strengthen the power of our brands and the Group’s influence in all countries.”

He also congratulated Stéphanie Cau, who has held the current Renault position for over a year:

“With this page turning, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Stéphanie, who has made a dynamic and significant contribution to the launch of emblematic products and the announcement of historic results. I wish her all the best for the future projects that lie ahead.”
