Cadillac’s SOLLEI: An all-electric fusion of classic elegance and cutting-edge luxury
Cadillac’s SOLLEI concept has just been unveiled, and it’s a bold leap into bespoke luxury. The forward-looking design shatters boundaries, showcasing a future of craftsmanship that mirrors the unique passions of its elite clientele.
The SOLLEI concept envisions an all-electric 2+2 convertible, featuring Cadillac’s iconic 55-inch pillar-to-pillar screen, a stunning interior, exterior lighting choreography for arrival and departure, and intuitive front and rear command consoles.
Named for the sun (‘SOL’) and leisure (‘LEI’), SOLLEI embodies Cadillac’s vision of a sunlit, open-air, leisurely lifestyle.
Erin Crossley, design director, Cadillac, commented;
“SOLLEI reimagines the discovery of travel, envisioning a personalized driving experience that connects one with the natural world around them. The concept celebrates Cadillac’s pedigree of elegant convertibles in a modern form by cultivating high luxury through design expressions and experiences.”
SOLLEI marks Cadillac’s debut of an innovative bio-based material, crafted in partnership with MycoWorks. Fine Mycelium™, a cutting-edge material derived from mushroom mycelium, adorns the console’s charging mats and door map pockets. This new luxury standard reflects Cadillac’s commitment to pioneering sustainable automotive resources.
Sleek exterior, refined body style
The SOLLEI’s exterior blends emotion with Cadillac’s bold proportions. Its low, elongated body, wide stance, and long coupe doors enhance rear access, while uninterrupted surfaces and a low tail create a sleek, dynamic profile. Discreet button handles streamline the design. Finished in “Manila Cream,” a nod to Cadillac’s 1950s heritage, the colour is meticulously hand-painted by Cadillac craftsmen.
Artful interior, distinctive personality
The SOLLEI interior reflects Cadillac’s “art of travel” philosophy, blending luxury with practicality. Highlights include a beverage chiller with a power glass door, crystal glasses, and exquisite craftsmanship. Unstained wood veneers and open pore finishes add tactile richness, while hand-cut marquetry and milled brushed aluminium frame the windshield, showcasing Cadillac’s commitment to elegance and innovation.
Tailored luxury and natural harmony
SOLLEI enhances personalisation with ambient lighting across multiple zones and 126 colour options, setting customised moods. It also features a bespoke bird-watching accessory: a leather and metal case with 3D-printed bird calls, a hand-illustrated journal, and a matching tool roll, all tailored to the vehicle’s interior.
Heavenly and uplifting design
SOLLEI embodies the spirit of travel and celestial beauty with its vibrant, sun-inspired design. Highlights include:
- Sunburst-themed lighting and graphics
- Seat patterns with sunburst perforation, quilting, and embroidery
- Fine Nappa leather with a pink iridescent sunrise effect
- Charging mats and accessories in MycoWorks’ iridescent Fine Mycelium™
- Pink iridescent accents on the beverage chiller and glass tray
- “Aurora” tint on metal finishes reflecting solar wind effects
- Convertible roof fabric named “Daybreak,” allowing sunlight to bathe the interior
- “Bask” textured floor mat in boucle fabric, complementing the roof material and adding warmth
The SOLLEI convertible embodies Cadillac’s vision of merging modern design with an open-air experience, drawing inspiration from iconic models of the past. Unveiled at Cadillac House at Vanderbilt – a cutting-edge venue at GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan – the SOLLEI showcases Cadillac’s commitment to delivering bespoke sustainable luxury with a nod to its storied heritage.
