British Gas and EO Charging create one of the most compact home chargers on the market
British Gas has introduced the Hive EV charger, a new and advanced home charging solution for electric vehicle (EV) owners. It aims to provide efficient control and cost-effective management of charging routines.
Research by British Gas showed that 39% of respondents were willing to install a home charger. This highlights the growing interest in emobility across the UK. In response, British Gas collaborated with EO Charging to develop the Hive EV Charger, a compact charger that’s as small as an A5 notebook.
Hive owners can use the new British Gas tariff, which offers off-peak charging between midnight and 5 a.m., costing under 10p per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This ensures cost-effective charging, contributes to a greener environment and eases the pressure on the national grid.
To encourage the adoption of the EV tariff, British Gas is providing rewards to Hive customers. Switching to the EV tariff gives customers £100 credit towards their first energy bill. Ordering a charger grants them £50 Hive vouchers.
The Hive EV charger is part of British Gas’ efforts to support customers in achieving net-zero emissions. British Gas aims to promote widespread EV adoption. The size and accessibility of the Hive EV charger make it easy and comparatively affordable to install.
Customers can purchase the charger through British Gas, including installation services, for £1,199 (VAT included). Alternatively, they have the option of interest-free credit, with monthly payments of £119.
