Blink Charging joins the Illinois EV expansion with a $2 million grant
Blink Charging has been awarded a $2 million grant to bring new EV chargers to Illinois. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) awarded the grant as part of the state’s ongoing “Rebuild Illinois” and “Driving a Cleaner Illinois” programs. These initiatives are making Illinois a leader in sustainable infrastructure.
The funding will allow the installation and operation of EV charging stations across five locations in the state. Once completed, these locations will feature 15 new chargers. Ten of these will be powerful 180kW DC fast chargers, and five will be Dual Port Level 2 stations, each with two charging ports.
The charging provider will also provide site support, including site assessments, installation, maintenance, and product training. The company has committed to covering 30% of the project’s costs.
Mike Battaglia, Blink Charging’s CEO-elect, commented:
“The state of Illinois and Blink are both keenly focused on leading the electrification of transportation together. This project represents another example of Blink leveraging external capital to efficiently install, own, and operate EV charging infrastructure, and we are grateful for the state’s trust and our shared vision.”
