The used electric cars to look out for in 2026
Chevrolet Bolt – Best used electric car under $10,000

The first generation Chevrolet Bolt is the most affordable entry point into high quality EV ownership, with countless examples of this vehicle being found for under $10,000. It may be a few years old now, but it’s still a capable EV. A 238 mile battery range removes any worry of range anxiety, making it perfect for those living in urban areas but also those taking the occasional longer road trip.
Hyundai Ioniq Electric – Best used electric car under $15,000

The original Ioniq Electric was one of the first EVs offered by the brand. It may not be as stylish or technology-packed as Hyundai’s latest electric offerings such as the IONIQ 5, but it still combines an ultra-efficient drivetrain, a comfortable commuter cabin, and lots of practicality – all for a low price.
You’ll be able to find a used example of the Ioniq Electric for under $15,000. From new, this car offered a rated battery range of 124 miles, so it’s definitely more suited as an urban commuter than a long distance champion.
Tesla Model 3 – Best used electric car under $25,000

If you’re looking for a used EV with a $25,000 budget, the Tesla Model 3 is a very compelling choice. No matter which specification of Model 3 you choose, you’ll be getting a strong range of at least 250 miles, seamless plug and charge access to the Tesla Supercharger network, sports car levels of acceleration.
With the price of a new Model 3 now sitting at $36,990, a used example, which can often be found for much less than the $25,000 mark, offer a significant saving and represent great value for money.
Ford Mustang Mach-E – Best used electric car under $35,000

Despite an original list price of $43,895 for the 2021 Mustang Mach-E, you can now regularly find used examples for well under $35,000. The Mustang Mach-E can offer great driving range – particularly if you find an extended battery model, which will offer a range north of 300 miles.
Whilst its SUV shape and practical interior make it a great EV for families, that Mustang badge on the front grille also indicates that this EV is something of a sports car also.
Rivian R1T – Best used electric car under $50,000

Even Rivians are now slipping under the $50,000 on the used car market, with a quick search revealing multiple used examples of the Rivian R1T now available at or under $50,000. The R1T is an electric pickup that drives like a performance SUV, but still has proper off-road chops.
Whilst at $50,000 the Rivian R1T offers great value compared to its new price, it still doesn’t represent affordability. If you really want the most affordable Rivian, it’s probably worth waiting for the Rivian R2. That’ll arrive later this year, with a base price of $45,000.
