Best selling electric cars in the UK for 2022

As expected Telsa led the way when it comes to the top sales of electric cars in the UK. The Model Y was the best-selling electric car in the UK in 2022 with 35,551 units sold. This was also the best selling vehicle, of all vehicles, in Europe in November. 

The Model 3 was the second best-selling electric car in the UK in 2022 with 19,071 units delivered. This was also Europe’s best-selling car, of all vehicles, in September 2022

Kia was the third best-selling electric car with its Kia e-Niro with 11,197 units delivered. The popular Volkswagen ID.3 hatchback was the fourth best-selling car with 9,832 units. Nissan rounded out the top five best-sellers with its Nissan LEAF with 9,178 deliveries. 

The electric MINI remains a popular choice as the sixth best-seller with 7,425 units delivered. Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, did well with its Polestar 2, delivering 7,345 units, putting it in seventh place.

MG has proved to be a popular brand in the electric car space in the UK thanks to its competitive prices. In 2022, the brand sold 7,030 units of its MG5 EV electric estate car, putting it in eighth overall. It will be interesting to see how the new MG4  EV does in 2023, with it being the brand’s cheapest electric car with prices starting from £25,995.

The sleeking-looking BMW i4, the brand’s first electric Gran Coupé, was the ninth best-seller with 6,699 units delivered and the Audi Q4 e-Tron rounded out the top best-selling electric cars in the UK with 6,594 units sold.
