- Australian petrol and EV charging provider, Ampol, and the Help Me Buy An EV (HMBAEV) shopping guide, have announced a new partnership combining education, consultancy services, and charging solutions to help support more Australians to make the switch to electric vehicles.
- With fully-electric cars currently accounting for around 10% of new car sales in the country, more work is required to encourage more to switch, marking the importance of this new partnership.
- The collaboration will see the two organisations work with the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club to establish an ‘EV Centre of Excellence’ at the Sydney Motorsport Park racing circuit.
Ampol launches new EV education mission in Australia
The new EV Centre of Excellence will be set up at the circuit’s innovation precinct, provide a consultative environment for OEMs, distributors, businesses, and consumers. Here, would-be EV drivers can learn about EVs, attend launch events, test drive the latest electric models, and also explore how Ampol’s own AmpCharge public charging solution operates.
As part of the partnership, HMBAEV has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Ampol. This plans for EV buyers using HMBAEV to also be able to access select offers on AmpCharge public charging and home charging solutions, and for business buyers, fleet charging services.
It’s not the first partnership Ampol has forged to drive EV adoption forward, with the firm last year partnering with Volkswagen to allow buyers to purchase an AmpCharge home charger directly alongside their new Volkswagen EV.
Rebecca Wilson, Head of Business Energy Solutions at Ampol, commented:
“Collaborations such as this with HelpMeBuyAnEV.com.au and the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club demonstrate how businesses can work together to make going electric simpler and more rewarding for customers.
Ampol remains committed to supporting the mobility needs of our customers through the energy transition. The ongoing rollout of our public EV charging network, combined with home and workplace charger solutions, ensures customers can charge with confidence where they want to.”
Brendan Doyle, Managing Director of Help Me Buy An EV, added:
“Many of our customers are first time EV buyers or businesses taking their first steps into fleet transition. Having Ampol as our provider of EV public charging and home and business charger solutions ensures they have a trusted solution from the very start. This makes the journey smoother, builds confidence, and helps customers become advocates for electric vehicles.”
Glenn Matthews, CEO of Australian Racing Drivers’ Club, said:
“This collaboration with Ampol and HMBAEV is very much aligned to our vision of creating a precinct within Sydney Motorsport Park for not only memorable motorsport experiences but also to advance new technologies and services for industries including the EV sector.”
