Amplify Cell Technologies breaks ground on a battery production facility in Marshall County, Mississippi
Amplify Cell Technologies has broken ground on a state-of-the-art battery cell factory in Marshall County, Mississippi. The joint venture, with Accelera, Daimler Trucks & Buses, and PACCAR, will sprawl across 500 acres. It will become a cornerstone of the vital, burgeoning domestic US battery supply chain.
Set to commence operations by 2027, the facility will produce lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cells with an annual capacity of 21 gigawatt hours. This ambitious project will inject over 2,000 new manufacturing jobs into the local economy. That’s the largest single job creation effort in Mississippi’s history.
Kel Kearns, CEO of Amplify Cell Technologies, commented:
“I am thrilled to be here with so many of our partners to break ground on this new battery cell manufacturing facility in Marshall County.
United in the mission to decarbonize our highways and interstates, our founding partners are making a serious commitment. Marking the start of construction on site signifies this collective effort, and together we will lead the transformation of the commercial transportation industry.”
The project is backed by a combined investment ranging from $2 to $3 billion. The partnership includes EVE Energy as a technology partner, leveraging its expertise in LFP battery cell design and manufacturing. The initiative aims to meet the growing need for domestic EV supply chain following harsh import tariffs.
Senator Roger Wicker backs the project and was present at the groundbreaking ceremony, where he stated:
“This project will change thousands of lives in North Mississippi.
Major development decisions are never made lightly, but Mississippi was chosen for this investment for a reason. Our business-friendly climate is attracting investment at a record level. I expect this trend to continue and look forward to more economic development groundbreaking ceremonies in our state.”
With a focus on durable and cost-effective LFP battery cells, Amplify Cell Technologies is spearheading the US’ homegrown EV industry. This endeavour promises economic growth for Mississippi, while positioning the region at the forefront of North American EV production.
