Alpha Motors have revealed the brand’s new SUPERSAGA electric vehicle. The sporty-looking electric car follows on from the recent launch of the base model SAGA saloon and will impress even the biggest petrolhead.
Alpha will equip the SUPERSAGA with a high torque and low weight dual axial motor all-wheel-drive system with an estimated 0-60mph (0-96kph) time of 4.6 seconds. On a more practical side, the lithium-ion batteries will deliver an estimated range of over 300 miles (483km).
Thermal management of the electronic drive unit will be controlled through an integrated liquid cooling system. Vehicle charging will be achieved using a combination electric vehicle charger with an estimated 80 percent charge capacity of an hour using DC power.
For optimum efficiency aerodynamic modifications are made throughout the vehicle. This includes a front bumper integrated air dam and rear spoiler to assist high-speed manoeuvrability through the efficient generation of downforce.
This means minimal air turbulence is created as the vehicle exterior is formed to seamlessly guide airflow through the hood, cabin, body side and underbody where it exits through splitters that divide the rear diffuser.
A combination of lightweight aluminium and carbon fibres are planned as part of the material composition of SUPERSAGA for optimum efficiency. These materials will be found on the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, roof and other components for weight reduction.
Marty Slater, Alpha Motor Corporation head of energy solutions, said: “SUPERSAGA is an engineering opportunity to develop the performance potential that can be achieved with EV technology.”
For the more sedate and those with families Alpha also offer an estate version which we think is one of the best looking out there. Once again, this electric estate that measures 4850mm (191 inches), will offer a range of over 300 miles (483km).
