ABB E-mobility’s revolutionary charging solution empowers electric fleet transformation

ABB E-mobility has launched the HVC360, a cutting-edge solution for fleet decarbonisation. It aims to speed up the electrification of transport and logistics fleets. The power cabinet, revealed on World Environment Day, brings numerous advantages for fleet managers striving for electrification.

Public charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) are increasing, but they don’t fully meet the needs of electric fleets. Buses and trucks, despite representing only 4% of vehicles globally, contribute a staggering 40% of transport emissions. This makes rapid electrification of these vehicles crucial in the overall decarbonisation efforts.

The HVC360 power cabinet by ABB E-mobility is designed for electric bus fleets, particularly in space-restricted urban depots. It is flexible and compact, allowing for connection of up to four charging stations. This enables simultaneous charging of multiple vehicles. The cabinet dynamically allocates power based on the vehicles’ charging requirements. It also supports various charging interfaces, ensuring compatibility with different EV models.

ABB E-mobility provides a comprehensive support system alongside the HVC360 hardware. It includes digital tools and services for remote management and installation. Energy management solutions optimize charging performance and energy consumption, boosting the efficiency of bus and truck fleets.

“Even more impressive than the unit’s exceptional quality and power density are its extraordinary flexibility and interoperability with a wide range of OEMs, making it a truly global solution. We are very excited to see how HVC360 helps customers of all shapes and sizes to reduce their running costs and emissions as the heavy vehicle sector catches up to the excellent progress already made in the electrification of passenger vehicles.”

The HVC360 also holds immense potential for the haulage industry, where electric truck sales are expected to rise rapidly. Flexible and efficient charging infrastructure is crucial to achieving widespread fleet decarbonisation.

Expected to be available by September 2023, the HVC360 demonstrates ABB E-mobility’s commitment to fleet electrification. It offers a tailored solution for fleet operators, contributing to a sustainable future in the heavy vehicle sector.
