- ABB E-mobility has comissioned the first example of its all-in-one A400 EV charger to arrive in North America, with transport specialists ITD Industries gaining an install at its Ontario, Canada headquarters.
- The installation will help ITD Industries push forward with its fleet electrification plan.
- It’ll also provide crucial data on how the A400 performs in the real world, thanks in part to ITD’s position as the exclusive Canadian dealer for zero-emission commercial vehicle brands, Nikola Motors and Zo Motors.
ABB’s first A400 charger deployed in North America
The A400 was only revealed for the first time earlier this year, and is capable of delivering up to 400kW of power – or 200kW for each vehicle, when both of the two individual charging outputs are utilised. These statistics will be put through its paces in the busy environment of ITD’s headquarters, helping prove the A400’s ‘Reliability by Design’ nature. It’s not the first A400 charger to be deployed worldwide, however, with European CPO Fastned also deploying several units in a pilot scheme.
While already in the business of selling zero-emission trucks from other brands, ITD Industries itself will also start producing zero-emission trucks from 2026. The A400’s installation at ITD’s site should provide valuable insights for ABB E-mobility, helping to offer its charging points out to more potential customers across North America and beyond.
Brandt Hastings, President of North America for ABB E-mobility, commented:
“By targeting the highest uptime and charging success rates with the A400, we are establishing a new, higher industry standard and redefining what’s possible. Together with our partners ITD Industries, we are deploying North America’s first A400 and delivering the most advanced, seamless and reliable solutions available.”
Philip Turi, Chief Operating Officer at ITD Industries, added:
“As part of our strategic plan to supply our fleet customers with best-in-class zero emissions trucks, our partnership with ABB E-mobility puts us on the leading edge of fast charging technology which will help to accelerate adoption of EVs in Canada’s trucking market.”
