  • Subaru has revealed its latest compact, fully-electric SUV, called the Subaru Uncharted.
  • As part of the ongoing EV collaboration between Toyota and Subaru, the Uncharted operates on the same EV platform as the Toyota CH-R+ EV.
  • Staying true to Subaru roots, the Uncharted will have the option of a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain, granting off-road capabilities and superior road holding.

Subaru to bring three new models to Europe

The Subaru Uncharted is an all-new reveal, which Subaru will sell globally. Pricing is yet to be revealed, but with a smaller footprint than the current Subaru Solterra EV, it’s likely to become the cheapest fully-electric SUV offered by the brand. The Uncharted is based on the same platform as Toyota’s compact electric SUV, the CH-R+. Alongside the four-wheel-drive option, the entry level model will pack a front-driven electric motor offering an impressive range of up to 363 miles. Both models will use the same 77kWh battery pack, though range drops to 292 miles on the four-wheel-drive option.

Subaru has also confirmed the return of its renowned Outback marque to Europe, this time returning in all-electric form, as the Subaru E-Outback (already revealed as the Subaru Trailseeker in North America). The E-Outback will combine practicality and performance, offering 279 miles of range, a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds, and a maximum towing capacity of 1500kg, making it a great electric car for towing.

Finalising its triple-model EV lineup, Subaru has also updated its first electric SUV, the Solterra, with a number of technological and design changes. The updated Solterra will arrive in the UK in early 2026.

In the UK, Subaru used to be a top-selling brand, particularly through the 1990s and 2000s. Whilst that popularity has remained in the United States, UK Subaru sales remained low just a few years ago – in 2020, it delivered just 951 cars in the UK. Over 2024, growth already picked up, with 2,419 vehicles delivered, with 19% of those attributed to its fully-electric Solterra model. The arrival of these new and updated all-electric models to the UK, which stay true to Subaru’s rugged origins, could help it regain its spot as a popular brand in the country. It remains to be seen whether any of these three new models will qualify for the recently introduced Electric Car Grant, which offers up to £3,750 off the cost of a new electric car.
