25% of new Porsche models delivered are now fully-electric

  • In a significant milestone for the premium performance brand, the first quarter 2025 results for Porsche show that 25.9% of its cars delivered in the period were fully-electric models, highlighting the growing popularity of its BEV lineup.
  • When also accounting for plug-in hybrid models, that figure rises higher – with a total of 38.5% of Porsche’s cars in Q1 shipping with a charging port.
  • The strong growth in its electric sector was bolstered by the new Macan Electric, which in the EU specifically, is consumers only option for the Macan: with the ICE Macan being discontinued in the region due to new cybersecurity laws.

Electric car popularity rises amongst Porsche’s customers

Whilst the 25.9% comes from Porsche’s deliveries globally, the EV sales mix becomes more impressive in certain countries. In the United Kingdom, for instance, out of the 3,537 Porsches registered in March, approximately 1,485 (41.9%) were fully-electric models.

When it comes to the new Macan Electric, it’s not hard to see why this model has pushed Porsche’s EV sales to new highs. As Green.TV’s Gill Nowell recently discovered in a four-day test, the blend of practicality, performance, luxury, and a decent range makes it one of the top electric SUVs on the market – while carrying across many of the attributes that made the previous fossil-fuelled Macan such a hit with consumers.

Porsche’s EV ambitions are looking even more significant in the future, which could see fully-electric models take up an even higher proportion of the manufacturer’s sales mix in the years to come. Porsche is poised to launch an all-electric variant of its largest SUV, the Cayenne, later this year. Electric variants of its smaller Boxster and Cayman models have also been spied undergoing testing, though there’s no clear reveal date for that sports car duo yet.

Matthias Becker, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, commented:

“The Macan performed very well in the first quarter and, with the all-electric variant, is making a significant contribution to our increased electrification rate. Overall, we have a very balanced powertrain mix that reflects the different preferences of our customers, globally.

We will continue to meet the diverse requirements of our customers in the future with a product strategy that includes all three drive variants for two-door sports cars, sports sedans and sports SUVs well into the 2030s.”
