World EV Day™ returns in 2025 with the Better Manifesto
2025 is a pivotal time for the EV sector. The early-adopter phase of electric vehicles is long past, and we are now starting to see a more widespread shift to EVs from a mainstream audience, both from a consumer side and a business side.
Despite this strong growth, marketing momentum still needs to be kept to the maximum to ensure continued adoption of electric vehicles, which is why this year’s World EV Day™ is focusing on the Better Manifesto. This looks to communicate that EVs are simply ‘better’ than their petrol and diesel counterparts: Better to drive, better for the environment, better for convenience, better for running costs, and more.
Last year saw a number of significant activations on the day, helping to push electric vehicles to a mainstream audience. Notable events that occurred on 2024’s World EV Day™ included Nissan using the day to unveil its Ariya NISMO EV, an Audi emobility partnership with FC Bayern Munich, as well as the day’s official partnership with popular navigation app Waze, which is helping use its crowdsourced data to boost the visibility and discovery of public charging infrastructure through its app.
Some key activations occurring today include UK CPO Sainsbury’s Smart Charge, who will be hosting an in-person EV showcase across five of its supermarket-located charging sites – bringing the latest EVs to display to the public, along with opportunities for on-the-day test drives. These selected sites will also offer EV drivers 1,000 bonus Nectar points for charging up on the day. Additionally, RAW Charging is also offering free EV charging throughout the day across a wide variety of UK destinations, including themes parks such as Alton Towers, over 30 National Trust sites, 185-plus Greene King pubs, and more.
This year, World EV Day™’s headline partner is UK automotive marketplace Auto Trader, with other partners including businesses over a diverse scope of the EV sector – including OEMs, charging firms, government, and more. You can view the full list of partners here.
World EV Day™ might be over tomorrow, but that doesn’t mark the end of crucial EV-related events for September. The UK’s EV SUMMIT also returns to Oxford on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th of September, with discussion panels, keynotes, and networking sessions helping to bring together the biggest names in the EV sector. There’s still time left to secure your delegate pass, with ElectricDrives offering an exclusive 50% discount with the promotional code ELECTRICDRIVES50.
