- UK supermarket Sainsbury’s in-house CPO, Smart Charge, has launched a partnership with Digital Charging Solutions (DCS), a firm which helps to develop public charging solutions for OEMs.
- With DCS already powering RFID cards and charging apps for OEMs such as Hyundai, BMW, and MINI, the agreement will help expand access to Smart Charge’s national network of ultra-rapid EV chargers.
- To mark the launch, Smart Charge is also offering 250 bonus Nectar points to DCS customers who charge at any of its locations before 12th October.
Sainsbury’s Smart Charge to become available in multiple OEM charging apps
Digital Charging Solutions already provides a roaming network for OEMs to use under their own branded solutions. This includes services such as Mercedes me Charge, Kia Charge, BMW Charging, and more.
Smart Charge already operates over 650 charging bays across 79 supermarket locations in the UK. These locations are key pieces of infrastructure for the UK’s EV drivers, being used by both those shopping at Sainsbury’s stores and those passing through the area. Now, with their integration with Digital Charging Solutions, visibility and payment accessibility for this large group of chargers just got easier.
Emma Williams, Director of Commercial & Customer, Smart Charge, commented:
“We’re excited to welcome Digital Charging Solutions customers to the Smart Charge network. This partnership reflects our commitment to making EV charging not only simple to use and reliable, but also rewarding and accessible to everyone.”
Lorenz Rein, Chief Commercial and Product Officer at DCS, added:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Smart Charge to make charging more rewarding, reliable, and accessible for EV drivers in the UK. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to creating seamless experiences that empower customers and accelerate the shift to electric mobility.”
