Fleete to create new 26 bay electric truck charging hub in the UK

Fleete have received planning consent to build a new 26 bay electric truck charging hub, located near to the M42 motorway.
  • Fleet charging specialists, Fleete, have announced plans for a future 26 bay electric truck charging hub at the Hams Hall Distribution Park in Coleshill, near Birmingham.
  • Located in a key area of warehouses and distribution centres, the charging hub will help support a growing number of eHGVs on the UK’s roads.
  • Select chargers will feature megawatt charging speeds, allowing for ultra-high power charging of MCS-compatible trucks.

Another significant piece of eHGV infrastructure comes to the UK

Planning consent has now been secured to develop the new Hams Hall site, and it comes after the development of Fleete’s first 16 bay eHGV charging hub in the Port of Tilbury, to the east of London.

The new site will sit in a key location for electric truck travel, with the Hams Hall Distribution Park being home to a significant number of warehouses and distribution centres. Close, direct access to the M42 motorway will also cement the new site as a key piece of eHGV charging infrastructure. Select charging bays at the site will also support megawatt charging speeds, whilst there will also be a split of tractor-only charging bays and tractor-and-trailer bays.

A shared charging model will be adopted at the new Hams Hall charging site, with fleet tenants within Hams Hall able to access the infrastructure. However, non-local passing electric truck traffic will also have the ability to access the site.

Chris Morrison, CEO of Fleete Group, commented:

“Securing planning consent for our charging hub at Hams Hall reflects our intent to support the infrastructure required for largescale fleet electrification at a nationally significant logistics centre. Hams Hall represents a strategically important opportunity within our growing network of shared charging sites. Through this network, we’re helping address infrastructure costs and connection challenges, making the transition to zero emission logistics faster, more practical and more achievable for fleet operators.”

FAQ Summary

  1. What is being built at Hams Hall Distribution Park?
Fleet charging specialist Fleete is developing a 26-bay electric HGV (eHGV) charging hub at Hams Hall Distribution Park. The site will support the growing number of electric trucks operating across the UK.
  2. Will the Hams Hall site support megawatt charging?
Yes. Select charging bays will offer megawatt charging speeds, enabling ultra-high-power charging for MCS-compatible electric trucks. The hub will also include a mix of tractor-only bays and tractor-and-trailer bays to accommodate different fleet needs.
  3. Who can use the Hams Hall eHGV charging hub?
The site will operate under a shared charging model. Fleet tenants based at Hams Hall will be able to have access, while non-local passing eHGV traffic will also be able to use the facility. Its proximity to the M42 motorway makes it strategically positioned for regional and national freight routes.
