First third party owned Tesla Supercharger units open in USA

Tesla's new 'Supercharger for Business' proposal sees new customised, privately owned units launch in Florida
  • As part of Tesla’s new ‘Supercharger for Business’ proposition, which allows businesses to own and install Tesla Supercharger units which are managed and maintained by Tesla directly on their site, the first examples of its kind have gone live in Florida.
  • Owned by Suncoast Charging, these first third-party Tesla Supercharger units have opened in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, with eight ultra-rapid charging bays available.
  • These white-labeled Superchargers have also been customised for Suncoast Charging, with murals that celebrate Florida’s native wildlife.

Customised third-party Tesla Superchargers launch in Florida

This new offer for businesses to purchase and own ultra-rapid Tesla Supercharger units on their own land differs from Tesla’s Destination Charging program, which sees lower-power, overnight-focused chargepoints purchased and installed at private locations. In both examples however, these new EV chargers can help draw more business from EV drivers, whilst creating more revenue streams for Tesla by selling out its tried-and-tested EV charging hardware. The first North American Supercharger to be owned by a third party through this program is now live with Floridian charging firm Suncoast Charging, as originally announced by Tesla Charging on X.

As these white label Superchargers using the same V4 hardware that is used on much Tesla’s official Supercharger network, this allows for ultra-rapid recharge speeds capable of adding up to 200 miles of range to an EV in only 15 minutes, whilst maintaining a strong uptime rate of 97% – which Tesla will guarantee to customers. These V4 chargers are also open for EVs of all brands to use, not just Tesla-branded vehicles. The use of this hardware also means that white label Superchargers purchased through this service show up within the map routing of Tesla vehicles, with that added visibility opening up a significant revenue opportunity for businesses who choose to go with Tesla’s own units.

Tesla’s new Supercharger for Business model is poised to grow rapidly. Suncoast Charging has already confirmed plans to open a second location in Florida, next year, signaling confidence in its first site. By allowing third-party businesses to shoulder the capital costs whilst guaranteeing high charging speeds and uptime, alongside seamless integration into Tesla’s own charge point discovery, this new business opportunity could significantly accelerate the rollout of high quality North American charging infrastructure.
