EVCP launches new EV charging site in the UK

  • EV charging firm, EVCP Solutions, has launched its first public charging site in the UK under its new ‘Charge & Go!’ brand.
  • The first location is located in the English seaside town of Southport, with four charging bays offering speeds of up to 150kW – enough to take a typical EV from 20% to 80% charge in under 30 minutes.
  • Following the Southport site, EVCP is set to launch more new Charge & Go-branded charging locations in the coming months and years, in another significant boost to UK EV charging infrastructure.

New public charging site launched in Southport

At launch, prices at this initial charging hub will be set at £0.69 per kWh, with that price available through the EVCP Charge & Go app, contactless payment methods, and roaming network partners such as Octopus Electroverse, Zapmap, and Allstar.

EVCP plans to launch more public charging locations under its Charge & Go brand in the near future, but it won’t just be focusing on ultra-rapid charging infrastructure such as the 150kW units installed at this location – lower power 7.4kW chargers will also form part of its expansion plan, helping to provide the right charging infrastructure in areas with higher dwell time, such as residential areas. The launch of EVCP’s new charging site also coincides with its recent achievement at the Electric Vehicle Innovation & Excellence Awards, where it won the award for the EV startup of the year.

The launch of this site, along with Charge & Go’s future expansion plans, is a welcome addition to UK charging infrastructure, as more drivers make the switch to electric. The UK has set a target of 300,000 public charge points by 2030, and the arrival of new charging brands such as Charge & Go will help play a part in the country realising this figure.

EVCPs Head of EV Charging, Graeme Patton, commented:

“It’s exciting to get our first Charge & Go! site live in Southport, and there will be many more to come over the coming months and years. Our aim is to support local businesses and residents, as well as bringing more EV charging infrastructure to rural areas and multi-use venues over time, including community hubs, sporting arenas, leisure and hospitality destinations.”
